None of this makes much sense to me . HM land Registry state a purchase price[or value if gifted I suppose] of £575000 back in 2007 and Mr & Mrs Bell took out a Bank of Scotland Mortgage. There has been more recently [ in 2014] a Second charge registered in favour of LBE. This would have been a charge Mr& Mrs Bell would have had to sign -not something imposed on the property . I have no political axe to grind but think it fair that we who pay LBE Council Tax and the like should know why and on what terms LBE have provided funds to Mr& Mrs Bell. There may be a very good reason, albeit Councils do not nowdays tend to lend money for private housing. I suppose if the house is worth 1m then LBE have plenty of security but without understanding what this is all about one might feel there has been a degree of preference. What is very clearly lacking here is a degree of transparency which has been long running. I was tipped off that this has been rumbling on the W3 website for ages and indeed it seems to be. I will now investigate making an FIA request for this information , but it would be so much better if Mr Bell was just to tell the tale . I hate to say it but the whole arrangement looks somewhat "dodgy" and Mr Bell's lack of input is not helping . Mr Bell has chosen to be a professional politician and must understand as such he does need to be seen as whiter than white in this type of situation. |
