Roy, you do make the correct point but you have it upside down. When you say "...the point of democracy is that it may not always deliver the outcomes that everyone seeks.." This is precisely what happened in 2011. 94% of Grove park residents said they did not want a CPZ. Our local councilors therefore voted unanimously against it. Some residents in a few roads (e.g. Park Road, and a handful in Elmwood) didn't like it. But as you say, that's democracy. It's tough for the 6% of residents who wanted a CPZ. It's such a shame that Ed Mayne and the LBH Traffic Department do not agree. So the 6% will now get their CPZ, implemented across the whole of Grove Park, where 94% of residents clearly don't want it. Please do not call this democracy. |
