"It's not true to say that nothing whatsoever has happened to move the situation forward regarding the Piccadilly Line at Turnham Green. LU have committed that ....they will review whether to include a permanent TG stop for the Piccadilly nearer to the line's upgrade in 2014." Whilst that statement may be factually correct, to say that a commitment to a review to consider whether a TG stop might be included in work in 2014 is hardly a ringing endorsement of successful action. Just to remind you, 2014 is 6 years away, and 8 years from the date of the petiotion - I do not think that a commitment to review on that time scale represents anything remotely resembling an achievement in achieving what the petition made a clear case for; i.e. a permanent stop at TG starting now or at least within a realistic timeframe by which I think most people would undertsand something not longer that 12 months. There seems always to have been an attitude amongst those who take this matter up of unquestioning acceptance of the mantras spouted by TfL as to why it is impossible. If something is to be achieved, surely some feathers need ruffling. I can never understand why nobody has commissioned a report which starts with the premise that there absolutely has to be a permanent stop at TG throughout the day, and then works out what changes need to be made to achieve that object. Having done that, a proper consultation could take place about whether the changes involved are viable on economic and other grounds. I personally would like to try missing out the Barons Court stop. replacing it with one at TG. The technology is presumably all in place. What about a 12 month trial of that? Let's not just simply sit and wait to see what might happen on 2014...! What is clear |
