"I would really like you to get TfL to make a study which starts with the assumption that there MUST be a permanent stop at TG" I'd like them to do a study that assumes that my house must have a 24-hour free limousine service on dedicated lanes to the pub. With the Stig as chauffeur. Really, however way you slice it, the signalling doesn't support a TG stop at the frequencies that exist during the day. It's been gone into exhaustively for years. End of story. TfL are working towards replacing the signalling completely with a distance-to-go system from around 2014 and anyone with an ounce of sense will be straining every sinew to ensure that the permanent TG stop is incorporated into planning for that system *from now*. Also, watch how the new TfL regime handle the Metronet fallout and the future of Tube Lines, as any problems with those will impact the timescales negatively - we happen to be talking about a stretch where both companies operate, which hasn't helped (they were originally going to install incompatible signalling, but that's hopefully been knocked on the head in favour of the Tube Lines version). However, given what I've seen of the TfL Chairman's grasp of engineering detail and capacity for long term thinking I'm very worried about this - there's clearly not a lot of interest at TfL in hiring the best people any more, we're going to get cut price staff and cut price solutions, in the naive belief that 'saving money' is all that matters. How can you 'force something through', anyway? Get over it. |
