"Watching the news last night, I learned that Boris is going to cut various projects" The TfL press release is headlined "Mayor outlines 10-year plan for massive transport expansion", a rather different spin on the news! The projects he has cut are those where the funding is not available, and include the Thames Gateway Bridge, Cross River Tram, and a proposal for a tram or other transit scheme in Oxford Street. The full list is in the Notes to Editors at the end of the press release at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/10231.aspx The Piccadilly and District line upgrades are a PPP commitment, and the Mayor has confirmed that these are in the TfL 10-year Business Plan for delivery after 2012. It's not true to say that nothing whatsoever has happened to move the situation forward regarding the Piccadilly Line at Turnham Green. LU have committed that the new signalling will include the technical capability of stopping the Piccadilly trains at TG at any time of day, and that they will review whether to include a permanent TG stop for the Piccadilly nearer to the line's upgrade in 2014. Meanwhile we are continuing to pursue an extension of the hours when Piccadilly trains currently stop at TG. |
