Simon Before Richard completely loses the will to live - all this has been thrashed through, right up to MD level at TfL and with cross party political support. Without reiterating all the detailed explanations made on several earlier threads on this same issue: 1. The signalling system won’t support a stop at TG at current daytime tube frequencies without putting the service at risk, as there would be no scope for the service to catch up after a delay 2. This is why a stop can be made in the early mornings and late evenings only – i.e. lower service frequencies at those times. 3. The new signalling system, for 2014, unaffected by any recent TfL announcements, will permit a stop at all times. 4. Swapping TG and Barons Court won’t help as the current signalling system can’t be altered to support this. 5. The business case for a stop (time savings for TG passengers vs. time lost for through passengers) is currently negative but could change when Crossrail and Airtrack take a share of Heathrow to central London passengers and more and more people start using the tube from TG. 6. We are continuing to press TfL to make progress towards the eventual aim of a stop at TG and we are working to ensure they do not backslide. |
