Boris is indeed cutting some of the Grand Projects that Ken committed to without ensuring the money was there to pay for them. TFL's plans were based on transport users paying 1% over the RPI in fare increases for the next 10 years despite the huge fare increases Ken slipped through in recent years. The current downturn and job losses in the city will hit London particularly hard, with a drop off in the number of travellers and a downturn in revenues. Boris is entirely right to make TFL live within its means. |
