| Extremely difficult, but it is possible to de-list and or demolish listed buildings. Unfortunately this is unlikely to happen to the bridge as we lack the will, imagination, or sentiment. In its day there was much to be admired but that day has passed. Looking from the north bank westward it stands proud against a low build verdant backdrop but it is a very different story looking east. The structure almost disappears against a background wall of high rise modern buildings. Restore or replace? That is the question. |
