If we are talking pure freight then heathrow is not really needed to a point. I think im correct in thinking that it costs more to fly freight from china to UK as it does to the USA. Most asian pure freighters for the US fly via Anchorage for the second leg. This way they carry less fuel and more freight and top up in anchorage for the second leg. Quite a lot of our cargo gets dropped in Frankfurt, Leipzig and Cologne where its then transported to east midlands etc |
