Labour having spurned the EU's offer of Free Movement for the under 30s which seemed like a win win for everyone, any prospect of improved trading arrangements with Europe boosting economic growth must be close to zero. The indications seem to be growing that some sort of announcement is coming although it may not be the green light that Heathrow wants. Labour's growth plan is housing led and they may feel that the current shortage of construction workers means they wouldn't get close to targets if the airport project was providing competition. If only we had some sort of arrangement with neighbouring countries in which people with key skills could easily come and work here. |
