As a follow up I as interested to read today that new cars are producing higher levels of carbon emissions than older models because of consumer demand for larger vehicles, according to research. This is pretty noticeable in Chiswick. A study published today by the consumer group Which? found that the most recent petrol, diesel and hybrid cars were producing 7 per cent more carbon dioxide than older equivalents and are on average 67kg heavier (a whole person's weight) than older models. The study found that the newest cars released an average of 10.5g more CO2 per kilometre than their predecessors. Climate emergency, what climate emergency?
