| Jim Thank you for remembering my cousin H.Jones. He died a couple of years ago, and I still miss his very interesting letters to me. He lived alone in Reading, Berks for a number of years after he retired. He actually taught in a Reading School before retirement, then he travelled a lot in Europe before he died very suddenly. Your comments about the "Tuck Box" brought back memories of attending the Amersham Grammar School when we were evacuated. We enjoyed the delights of a Tuck Box until our Head Mistress invited a Dentist to speak to the School on the dangers to our teeth of too much sugar. After that the Tuck Box was banned!! It must have made quite an impression on me I still remember how disappointed I was that there was to be no more sweets at school. During the war years attending school in Chiswick I do not ever remember a Tuck Box being available. One of the many things the war spoiled for us children. |
