| According to Phil Collins website..he was born in January 1951 in Chiswick yet nothing seems to be mentioned about his schooling. We all recall hearing that he went to the Boys' Grammar School in Burlington Lane in the 1960's. Lets assume that he passed his 11+ exams at a local Chiswick Junior School..and joined the Grammar School in 1962 or 1963 I have here a set of the School magazines from 1952 to 1965 and although not listing all students at the School..names are shown in the various drama,and sports events etc. In the School Magazines for 1962,1963,1964 there is no mention of a Collins.....but in 1965 there is. How exciting. No....not in the swimming gala lists, or the rugby reports,...or the CCF..but yes in Athletics!! At the Chiswick Grammar School Sports day held on the 3rd July in 1965 the COLLINS name appears: 75 yard hurdles U14's: First Collins (Hogarth House) High Jump Junior: First Collins (Hog) 4' 2" !!! I plan to send an e-mail to him to check!! Surely if their had been two pupils called Collins..their initials would have been shown. |
