The Department for Transport party line is : "The judgement makes it clear that the claimants have failed in their objectives to get the Heathrow decision "quashed" and for the Government to be ordered to go back and re-consult. The fact is that the judgement contains no obligation on the Government to "re-run the Heathrow consultation". The decisions (on Heathrow) announced in January 2009 followed careful and detailed analysis, and full public consultation. That will be taken into account as we prepare our National Policy Statement for airports, which we plan to publish for comment in 2011. That will of course provide further opportunity for consultation. The judgement shows that the Secretary of State acted lawlfully and rationally in coming to his decisions on Heathrow." As Westminster's representative in Brentford and Isleworth, I am sure our MP would support this view whole-heartedly. |
