"Apparently some people in the business community think we should either put up or shut up since we knew what we were letting ourselves in for when we moved to West London". That'll be the business community led by the CBI (deputy president Martin Broughton) and BA (chairman Martin Broughton) then. Or is it the CBI whose former director-general was a certain Lord Turner who, as chairman of the Climate Change Committee, said that it would be possible for aviation to be expanded while still meeting the target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the middle of this century? Or might it be the business community led by BAA whose director of communications, Tom Kelly, was Tony Blair's official spokesman? That's the same BAA whose former head of corporate affairs, Joe Irvin, moved to Number 10 to be a key adviser to Gordon Brown. And how could we forget dear old bumbling Lord Soley of Hammersmith, former Labour MP for Ealing, Acton & Shepherd's Bush, and now chairman of Future Heathrow, a "a broad based coalition of business, trades unions and the aviation community (whose) link is a shared vision of the future of the UK's only major international hub airport"? Now, what was it you were saying about the government and lobbying? |
