Martin I agree with you 100%. Of course the Conservatives have changed. Cameron maybe an Old Etonian but Blair went to Fettes (which is equally posh in Scotland) and Harriet Harman is the former Head Girl of St Paul's Girls School and a niece of the late Lord Longford. There is nothing wrong with increasing and equalising the retirement age for men and women. People live much longer now in any case. My brother in law in the USA worked well into his eighties and enjoyed every minute of it. My mother lived until she was 96 and drove her car until after her 90th birthday. I have known many people who have retired at 65 or younger and have been miserable ever since. If people want to retire earlier or later- they should be allowed to do so as a matter of personal choice. Nobody should be forced to retire early or late. In the years to come fewer and fewer people will depend on the state pension in any case. |
