Not extending male retirement will not prevent those who wish to continue work from doing so, see B&Q for example. However raising the age will make financial sense for any govt but will be difficult politically, esp for the impact on female retirement age, currently planned to extend to 63 as a move towards equality. Male at 66 will mean another, quicker increase for women. As to main question, no, beyond the Blairisation of Cameron and Osborne to make them look voter friendly traditional tory views remain in place, see Europe and their non interventionist approach to the economy. People sem to have an irrational dislike of GB (Oft displayed on this forum)but could you have imagine how team Cameron would have coped with the global banking crisis? |
