It does when the sentiment is to get out at any price. Friday was a classic case and will no doubt go down in history. With the lack of lending, most big companies are naturally going to suffer through lack of credit. The fact that the FTSE is weighted towards commodity producing companies coupled with a contraction in demand will be lead to marked reduction in PE. Levels were met where confidence evaporated. Nobody complains when it jumps 3% :-). 6400 was clearly over valued... many would argue 4000 is too high still.... |
