I think thats picks up a few of my issues with politics at the moment.

I don't see any great choice between parties in terms of policy and very few original ideas (or indeed action) with the specific problems we are facing in the 21st century such as energy and the environment.

Also, I just don't see anyone willing to stick there neck out and stand up for what they believe in. Politicians are infamous for not answering questions directly but it's now reached a stage where you actually stop listening.

I would add that in this media age politics seems mostly run by those in the media who generally represent only a specific middle class demographic.

Add political correctness and dumbing down into the mix (the subject of numerous discussions & threads these days) and you have an unheathy trend towards McPolitics.

I do have to stand up for the police here as I have two good friends in the force, one does a very dangerous job and another moved from a very well paid city job becuase he wanted to help people. I think comparing the two is plainly unfair.
