| Even keyworker housing is often offered at 80% of market rent which in Chiswick would be beyond the means of many NHS workers. As this was a NHS development maybe the terms are more generous but, if most remain unoccupied, then maybe not. The coverage so far seems to point to the Sainsbury's development not having many affordable units. Everyone I know who has moved into a 'genuinely affordable' flat has not been happy with the experience whether it is discount to market rent or shared ownership. It is right to say that social rent is the only good option for people on lower or even middling incomes but most have no chance of getting one. |
