| Michael, neither of us has the engineering expertise to comment authoratively on what is and isn't viable. I don't know where your figure of 15 metres for tunnel depth comes from but I gave different AI models the details and they both came back to me with the same range quoting current Network Rail guidelines that would apply given local circumstances. You'll no doubt say 'garbage in garbage out' but why not give it a try yourself and see if you get a different answer? I don't think anyone on this thread is going to take umbrage at being described as 'bonkers' by you as your definition of that word is someone who disagrees with you by the slightest degree. However, it does seem to me a perfectly sensible conclusion that a tunnel here might have been possible in different circumstances. If you can come up with a non-ranty argument to show to us why this is not the case. I'm sure there would be some interest. |
