| I didn't say a tunnel was unfeasible - most things are possible if you throw enough money at them. However in the case of this foot tunnel, it is clear that it would be hugely expensive involving tunnelling at a to-be-determined depth* under a working railway line and none of the tunnel fans have been able to explain why it is actually needed given there is already a surface route. When it comes to funding available from the development, there will be many better things it could be spent on, such as providing step-free access at Chiswick Park station itself. * clearly not the depth mentioned by Francis Rowe as that would have a foot tunnel in the middle of a District line train. |
