| A tunnel is a bonkers idea given it would need to go under the District line so would need to be really quite deep. A ramp would be very long and certainly no space for it on the N side. If it was accessible, that would mean lift shafts on both ends, but there couldn't just be lifts so that would mean spiral/winding steps as well. And for what? So people didn't have to cross a zebra crossing on a surface route which is already accessible (even though Chiswick Park station isn't). It would be far more cost effective just to improve pedestrian access to the station. For example, there could be signals on both legs of Acton Lane and Bollo Lane. They can all go red for traffic at the same time to create what is called a "scramble" crossing with all traffic stopped in front of the station, so pedestrians can just cross directly using the shortest route rather than needing to use the existing zebras. |
