Jeremy, there are many towns and cities away from the Chiswick and south east prosperous bubble that have changed beyond recognition for people whose families have lived there for generations. The jobs have gone, there is no ongoing investment from anyone wishing to regenerate the area and because these places are cheap to do so,many asylum seekers and illegal immigrants are placed there.Whilst I agree it is not their fault that they are placed somewhere where there is already nothing to share, perhaps somewhere like Chiswick could volunteer to share the load a bit more and have a couple of asylum hostels and hotels. After all, there are more respurces to share down here and more jobs.Surely this would not only show a more willing spirit to help solve the problem,as currently in the communities that have the challenges but lack the resources to deal with them, long term residents and asylum seekers alike are at a great disadvantage if compared to places like W4.Or woukd you just prefer to carp away from the boundary and have a pop at people about whose lives you seem to know nothing? |
