| Closing off of the Duke's Avenue exit onto the A4 was, from memory, considered as part of the original proposals. Not sure if it was ever more than an interesting suggestion though. The problem with closing the Duke's Avenue exit is that unless there is almost total traffic evaporation - ie that those using Duke's Avenue to get to the A4 no longer take that journey, then there are very limited options to get onto the A4 travelling east: Chiswick Lane or SCR. SCR already grinds to a halt on a regular basis because of the amount of traffic (especially on Friday afternoons during school times), someone who lives on Chiswick Lane would need to comment on that road. The other problem with putting more traffic on SCR is that the SCR/A4 junction is a notorious accident blackspot. I am guessing something along those lines is why the original proposal/suggestion to close the Duke's Avenue exit was dropped |
