| It's definitely worth looking at but it will be a difficult challenge. Redirecting traffic from Dukes Avenue to SCR isn't necessarily a win in terms of improving the environment where people live as there are far more residents on the latter. ANPR enforced residents' access may not be viable so close to a commercial centre and TfL may not be keen to put more pressure on the problem SCR/A4 junction. I fully understand your point about casualties as a percentage of road use type. I think at this stage all we can say is that there is no clear picture as to whether the cycleway has reduced collisions but there is no argument that it has made the area much more dangerous. What it very evidently has done is increased the perception of safety in central Chiswick as there are far more families using this bit. |
