Total gridlock should do it (stop car drivers driving). The roads are already at (beyond?)capacity. They are building thousands of new flats in Brentford. There are plans to build over 900 flats on Bollo Lane, and lots more on the B&Q site. There are plans for even more development than that in the works. Even if those developments are supposed to be "car free", there will still be a lot of vehicle movements. There will be thousands of extra Amazon deliveries, Ocado deliveries, and Ubers each day. That kind of overdevelopment is going on all over London. Gridlock is inevitable without road pricing - which may the the stick element of it. The carrot will be actually being able to get somewhere much more quickly, and at a much cheaper price, by using a bike. |
