Might be worth pointing out again you won't find a post from me saying I love the temporary set up of CW9. I just wish people would not use arguments such as pedestrian safety to fuel their argument when they were in such denial about the many ped safety improvements the permanent scheme had. I know people like Loraine try to grasp onto anything negative without exploring or understanding it and although this gets very tiresome we should just let it be filed in the nimby tab. I don't think I have said TGT and DR would directly solve traffic problems in London. Only less cars in corridors where movement should not be priroity will do that. Make short journeys more inconvenient and that will happen. Play the long game. My personal view on TGT is that it was half arsed. If you want to make a street inclusive and really drive walking,cycling, public transport and a place to dwell with things to see and do then do it properly. Make it buses and cycles only for at least 8am-8pm (if you need to do in stages start at weekends) and build out all the footpaths with places to sit, outdoor trading and lots of landscaping. Do the loading at night and don't have any parking except for those with disabilities. If you want to make it for people then make it for people. Devonshire Road has great potential to be a plaza environment and in my view should also be enhanced. |
