HNC LTN's in Chiswick have also not improved cycling and have made it more dangerous for pedestrians. In Grove Park, Burlington Lane (which was a main cycle route) is increasingly becoming the "through route". With increased traffic, faster traffic combined with school kids and the train station. The fact that all rat running traffic is being pushed down BL is dismissed by the likes of Michael Robinson but it is apparent on the maps from HBC which identify Burlington Lane as the "through route". No improved cycle route in sight in Grove Park and more dangerous for pedestrians around the station. In central Chiswick, leaving aside the badly designed and clumsy C9, the LTN has not added cycle routes or pedestrian improvements. On TGT, the green bins where parking used to be mean it's neither a cycle path and or a walkway - more an obstacle course. Buses and cars can still use the street so no extra safety for bikes and pedestrians, just an immense chaos to road traffic. In all respects Cllr Curran & HBC have failed to achieve the objectives of LTN's ... "to improve walking and cycling to avoid a car-led recovery and to improve air quality particularly for those most at risk, the young and the elderly.” |
