The woman involved in the collision in Hammersmith died so perhaps a bit of perspective on all this is in order. Getting stuck in a jam wasn't the worst thing to happen to anybody in west London on Wednesday afternoon. http://www.hammersmithtoday.co.uk/default.asp?section=info&page=conaccident035.htm As far as I can see the traffic levels in Chiswick on Thursday and today has reverted to 'normal' levels in which there are lines of traffic from Turnham Green to Turnham Green Terrace pretty much constantly throughout the day with things getting worse for a time around the morning and evening rush but there is currently no significant wash back to roads like Acton Lane and South Parade apart from at the height of the rush. This should be a cause for concern because we are in a lockdown and so traffic will be well below potential levels and the accident on Wednesday with its resulting road closures shows that there is no leeway in the system even at currently relatively low levels of vehicles on the road. |
