There is a logic in the Lib Dems' position. Brexit is bad. If they get a Parliamentary majority then they have a mandate to scrap Brexit. However, I question whether this is politically expedient. This will leave Brexit as "unfinished business",continuing its corrosiveness. The Labour position is perhaps less apparently logical (negotiate the best withdrawal agreement you can, then put it to a vote, against a remain option, although in my view totally logical, even if not consistently promoted by Labour). I am not sure what the Conservative's policy is, because I am not sure that we still have a Conservative party in any meaningful sense. We have a schism. Brexit party? Don't give a flying flamingo. People who are willing to destroy this country for they own prejudices. |
