Invoking Article 50 before there was any sort of plan as to how we should exit the E.U. was an act of great folly. The consequences of this are now all too clear. I would hope that rational Leavers would agree with that. Therefore revoking Article 50 would take us away from this cliff edge and provide space for some clear debate and thinking to take place. Some sort of National Assembly could then be established to work out how we might exit the E.U. in a constructive and beneficial way and this could then be presented to the British people. As for the LibDems who have always been pro E.U. to have stated their policy in any more ‘moderate’ way would have been rightly attacked as Corbynesque fence-sitting. |
