Anyone with children will know the Phone box pop-up was a terrific idea - after school or nursery in decent weather - which is when it first appeared parents want and do take their children to the green to play - you know exercise and messing about and friendships stuff so vital for today;s children who really need free time and outdoors. Parents would not want to e going to a cafe a distance away and so somewhere within sight of the playing children was perfect and did not remove business from other venues. Also go to many parts of London where there are street markets - the other shops benefit because people visit the market and then wander the streets looking at other stuff and everyone benefits. What is the 200 metre rule? Never noticed this anywhere else in London - Clapham North is a great example as is King ST almost on our doorstep where every Thursday there are food stalls right next to other cafes - very buzzy atmos - a street market would really enhance the High Rd. |
