| Alison, there is a very insightful post on another thread about how its easy to allow trade in goods but much harder to trade services. We are good at services, the Germans at goods, so the playing field is likely to be stacked against us. Also about how international investors will no longer invest in the UK. real experiences that people are seeing now. You may be happy to get lots of visas to go to Russia, I dont think the average brit expects to get a visa to go to France. Europe is our largest trading partner and travel destination, and we have just voted to pull up the draw bridge. Stop for a moment and contemplate that. Also the quote below, from the BBC, underlines the fact that access to the single market will equal free movement. SO what exactly will have changed, other than our economy being in recession... 'Germany's car makers have said the UK will have to accept the "bitter pill" of the free movement of people to ensure tariff-free access to the single market, saying "everything comes with a price".' PS another credit rating downgrade while I was writing. Never mind though, as at least one poster here is happy... |
