Hi - I am not trying to justify what LBH are doing I am just letting you know what Cllr Mann said last night. In answer to your question about "do those living in flats pay the same tax as those in houses with gardens" - It is not easy to answer this question but please bear with me. Your CT is based on the band/range that your property falls into using notional valuations from several years ago. Clearly if you next door neighbour owns a three bedroom house with a garden and you own a one bedroom flat without a garden your neighbour will pay more CT than you. However if you own a flat with no garden but facing the river in Chiswick(say in Hartington Court) and your friend owns a three bedroomed house with a garden in Cranford say in Waye Road, you may well pay more CT than your friend. If you live in a property with a garden do not have a car and cannot afford £40 a year for a garden waste bag and don't have space for a composter - then I am afraid Cllr Amrit Mann does not have a solution for you. I had hoped that the old scheme of being able to buy one-use-bags for garden waste at the Library was to be revived but apparently this would not work with the super duper new collection vehicles that Cllr Mann intends to buy with your money. |
