I rarely use my green bags as I have a good compost heap. However, each autumn I have used them for the leaves I sweep away from the pavement and road outside my house. My neighbours and I will continue to sweep the leaves but instead will make huge piles in the road which we will ask to have removed. In favour of the Council, though they were very slow to get started and we had very slippery and mushy pavements to contend with, they eventually had a clearing team going round each week and each time we created a pile, it quickly disappeared i.e. within a few days. As for the old green bags, I think they will be marvellous for growing potatoes in. They will also continue to be useful for taking green waste to the tip. |
