It's a nice idea in theory to use the bus lanes in such situation and it may well have even be considered. From the other side though all you are doing there is moving the storage and doubling the pressure on Chiswick Roundabout and that would have a huge impact on traffic trying to get on from the A4 and A406. Potentially that could gridlock the roundabout even more. Not saying this was the reason the bus lane was not opened but these things are generally looked at as how the whole network runs and often its a damned if you do damned if you don't. Am sure this thread would still be firing pelters if the roundabout was completely taken out of action as a result of sending hundreds more cars at it. You actually need to cut people off long before you even reach Chiswick Bridge. I don't know what signing etc there was at Hogarth today but sounds like there should have been some better communications. |
