Caroline, as Pete says, facet joint injections are not very pleasant.I have had the full set of injections done on the imaging table 4 or 5 times.A couple of times they were quite successful, other times they didn't help at all I have ankolysing spondylitis which means the spinal joints fuse together because new bone grows inbetween the joints.I cannot have any more injections now because there is no way for the needle to get through the bone to the spinal canal.If this is the first time you have been offered these injections, there is a good chance you will get a positive response from it.
