"UKIP is an irrelevance in Scotland" Scotland elected six MEPs a few months ago - two SNP (28.9%), two Labour (25.9%), one Conservative (17.2%) and one UKIP (10.4%). The Greens (8%) and Liberal Democrats (7.1%) did not win any seats. Given the mood swing away from the three traditional national parties, UKIP could yet develop into the recipient of non-SNP protest votes in Scotland. At Westminster there are 59 MPs representating Scottish constituencies - forty Labour, eleven Liberal Democrats, six SNP, one Conservative and one independent (ex-Labour). There could be a lot of seats up for grabs come next May. |
