So what are you going to do to ioncrease effectiveness? The government is convinced, with some cause, that Heathrow as a hub is an important economic driver. We are competing with Paris which is better served by runways and highspeed rail links. New runways at Stansted and Gatwick would help, but they won't solve the hub problem. Every year a new airport in Essex or Kent becomes more and more viable, but why won't BAA make the move? Stupidity? Inertia? Lack of imagination? No real subsidy free cost benefit analysis? Will the recession help oil the wheels? We're all doomed Captain Mannering! |
