‘Brits simply don’t want to do those jobs because the Benefits System supports them generously’. Not sure about that. Adult minimum wage = £12.21 x 40 hour week = £488.40 a week Job Seekers Allowance = £92 a week Universal Credit = £400 a month. Possible extra disability payments = £140 a week However, benefit cap = £283.71 a week for single adult. One problem with the ‘flexible hours’ gig economy is many employers dodge and weave and don’t pay for anything like a full 8 hour day or a 40 hour week. |
