Hey, Ed, do you think we should encourage people to walk instead of cycle? With the severely reduced width of the footpath and no laws/penalties in place for cyclists who continue to cycle on the pavement, seems unlikely, no? Or should we start a movement demanding Pedestrian Superhighways? Oh wait, we have those but city and local Labour government are opting to get rid of them. Then again, with pedestrian safety compromised and imperiled, its only a matter of time before a movement begins. Just last night I was nearly run down by a woman who cycled right in front of me even though I was in the middle of the Dutch crossing one, I might add, which has been pointed out to me as a pedestrian safety improvement by the likes of Will Norman and Ruth Cadbury. Pity this cyclist had no idea that it was a pedestrian amenity. |
