Better yet. Last year TfL/LBH spents tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands of pounds) installing a (still unused by many cyclists) bike lane from Boston Manor station to the Great West Road. Where the lane starts they insalled a cross over point by building out the kerb, removing parking spaces (there were no points to drop off at Boston Manor) and effectively pushing southbound traffic virtually into the path of oncoming northbound traffic. A disaster waiting to happen (thankfully no head-ons but countless 'near misses' every day). Six weeks ago the crossover was moved about 50 metres north (into Ealing) and the widened pavement and kerb are currently being restored as are the parking spaces. At least ten workmen for six weeks so far with a few weeks to go. How much this stupid design has cost, God alone knows. The bike lane now runs directly across the front of the station exit behind the Northbound E8/195 bus stop meaning that those exiting the station now have to cross the running bike lane to get to the bus stop. Where the hell do they find the people who design these schemes? |
