Tony, I went down again to have a look at the location and remain sceptical that this can all be squeezed in. Is the plan to remove the signalised crossing at this point? That would mean you could dispense with the central island which is needed for the traffic light. I cycle past this junction quite a lot and it is already tricky. I wouldn't tend to use the cycle path because I live north of the High Road and would travel with general traffic which I think a high proportion of cyclists will do however a tighter squeeze on available road space is an added risk for cyclists. I'd anticipate a lot of abuse from black cab drivers etc for not using the cycle path which will be ten times worth if I am slowing them down due to the narrow lane. |
