| YES! it is worthwhile responding by referring the matter to the Local Authority Ombudsman on two grounds:_ 1. Deceit; remember how all this started; The Mayor of London and TfL produced a lengthy document clearly to persuade us not to object because the plan was to speed up access to the Elisabeth Line ( Crossrail ) by avoiding the level crossings on the present route and using less busy roads; this is still claimed to be one of the aims. The deceit is that it is nothing of the sort; the real aim is now revealed; to remove the 440 bus from all of us and give it to the Business Park; there is another similar gift ( not mentioned ) , the new bridge over the road between the north end of the Business Park and Chiswick Park Station. In contrast, though the present 440 route goes past the station entrance and stops near it, the new route goes nowhere near so that we will have no public transport to get us there. Remember; that branch of the District Line goes to Ealing Broadway where Crossrail also stop so the Business Park people need only take the new 440 and 2 tube stops to get there; we can't even get to Chiswick Park station. Also, the new route removes the link between Chiswick High road and Acton High Street and leaves the people of South Acton ( on the west side ) stranded; this too , instead of improving access to Crossrail makes it far more difficult. All this has been pointed out to TfL which has assured me that it therefore known to the Mayor of London. Please give it a try and, of course make your anger and upset known to our MP and the Councillors of Hounslow and Ealing. NB. The clue may well come from an event still recorded on Google. When the Business Park was just starting, a financier, the then TfL and Hounslow were considering a bus route from it to Chiswick on the basis " It would make a fortune". Is this what TfL have been planning all along ? 2 . Breach of the Bus Act provisions; both the present Act and the earlier one direct that no bus route can be removed or created or altered unless the needs of the elderly and infirm have been properly considered. I have corresponded with TfL at length; so far as they ae concerned, such people can go take a running jump. They are giving ( selling ? ) the 440 to the Business Park. |
