| Well said, Malcolm. I know only too well how a fall can change the life of an older person, and your list of hazards on pavements matches mine almost completely. I cross Turnham Green very frequently, and often have to negotiate several of the inconsiderate nuisances you mention. Also, especially in summer, there are: a) people walking in groups of 4, unwilling to allow others to pass; b) games played across the footpath, or so close as to be a risk from a kicked ball; c) dog leads extended across the path and almost invisible. This is the stretch between the old phone boxes and Fromow's Corner. I don't think the paths on the eastern section are so often used. |
