| Unfortunately people are very self-centred and selfish nowadays. Life is very Me-Me-Me. Everybody seems to be in a hurry and yet getting nowhere. There is increased recklessness everywhere - it is very obvious on the roads with unsignalled overtaking and undertaking at speed and drivers driving too close to each other. The number of accidents that you get on roads in poor weather with drivers in unlit cars driving far to fast and close for the weather conditions possibly because they hadn't thought to factor in any extra time for clearing ice and snow off their cars is amazing. Unfortunately there is not enough understanding of how terrible it is to have a fall when you are older by the young because it isn't a problem for them. They probably don't spend enough time with the older members of their families possibly because families are more spread out nowadays. Time is what you make of it. Altruism - what is that? How do you remind people that that elderly or less agile or able bodied person that they don't know and don't care about is someone else's much loved family member? I hope you don't mind but I shall pocket your wonderfully alliterative Reckless Runners. |
