"I would also encourage all residents to respond to the consultation as is their right - even if they do not live in the streets covered by the CPZ." As Sam says, before any extension to the Park/Staveley Road CPZ can be agreed, there should be a proper consultation. Indeed, we are promised by LBH that there will be a consultation after 6 months of that 2-road CPZ before it can be signed off a permanent (although they also promised that the TMO for that CPZ would not be signed off if there were any unresolved objections, and they comprehensively ignored that promise, so their promises don't actually mean very much in fact) So when the opportunity arises for you to make your views know, please do so. Many of you may assume that only those residents in the named roads can submit their views / objections, but this is not the case. Anyone in Grove Park (or even W4?) can submit their views. As we always knew, and are now seeing, we are all affected by these limited CPZs as the parking problems experienced in those roads are simply displaced into their neighbours' roads, and eventually across the whole of Grove Park. The one or two-road CPZ argument is illogical, as the displacement means we are all affected. When the time comes for views / objections to be submitted, LBH will not make it easy. Last time, they made the announcement in the back pages of the Estates Gazette (essential reading for Grove Park residents, right?), so they will do their best to make sure nobody knows about it. But it will be made public here (not by LBH!!), so when the time comes you must all please make your views known, otherwise we just sit by and watch this inevitable creeping CPZ cover the whole of Grove Park in time. LBH rely on nobody having the energy or interest to oppose them, this is how they can implement all these insane schemes and spend our money on their own hobby horses, flying in the face of any common sense. As we have seen with the awful street lights, direct action and the public voice can have some effect on these fools at LBH, and can force them to respond. So please, let's not allow them to railroad all these unwanted schemes into our lovely area without at least raising our voices in protest a bit. |
