Sam hi, I appreciate your answer, as I am sure do others. Can you tell us where CPZ's have worked? All that I hear is that even those who selfishly ignored that they are just displacing their problem onto someone else, once they have experienced a ruined streetscape, the stazi patrolling their homes to catch their guests who stay 5 minutes too long, not to mention costs that rise out of all proportion to the costs of running the scheme, have realised that they have been at best misled. So can you give me the shining example of where a CPZ has been a great success? If not, why is it so difficult to come out against CPZ's? I think you are a good councellor and probably will get my vote, but democracy relies upon clear choices and accountability for delivering against those choices. 80% of people under 30 don't even bother to vote, because they dont see any point. On the evidence so far they are probably right. So why not be a force for good? Make a stand for democracy. Help people think that their opinion counts for something and can make a difference. Have a little faith in Human Nature, if that is too hard, set an example - It is about time someone did, and you are about our best hope. Nick PS good luck on the 22nd The thing is that UKIP are much better at this type of thing that the Conservatives are. Why? - because people believe rightly or wrongly that they stand for something and that a vote for them might make a difference. Do you see my point? |
