I can understand people's emotions at the way in which the Park Road/Staveley Road CPZ was engineered but to blame that particular CPZ for thoughtless and potentially dangerous parking on Sutton Court Road is ludicrous. Why not the CPZ on Barrowgate Road or other nearby roads? Park Road/Staveley Road were merely the last CPZs to be implemented. Thoughtless and potentially dangerous parking on Sutton Court Road just south of the A4 is the responsibility of the drivers concerned. Section 242 of the Highway Code states "You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road. (Laws RTA 1988, sect 22 & CUR reg 103)" I would have thought that London Transport, the emergency services, etc., could make representation to both LBH or the Police to have the matter remedied. This could be by prosecution or by parking restrictions on one side of the road. The VW van that has been parked there for a couple of days (at least) is, apparently, taxed but the current tax disc is not displayed - this can be checked on https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax. |
